- I think you are a little confused. To use MAC or PC ZIP disks you need a
- mountlist entry for each one if you are using 2.04 (?) and below. If you are
- using 2.1 and above you have a file in the SYS:devs/dosdrivers drawer for each
- type of ZIP (MAC or PC). These "drivers" are the same thing as the mountlist
- file entry except that each entry in the mountlist file is in a seperate file
- in the dosdrivers drawer. They are not PD or anything, you just write one.
- They are a plain text file in either case.
-
- Amiga format ZIP disks and hard disks, which is what a ZIP looks like to the
- Amiga, use the Rigid Disk Block (RDB) concept. That is what HDtoolBox does,
- write an RDB to the ZIP disk. You could just as easily mount an Amiga ZIP disk
- with a mountlist or a "Driver" in the dosdrivers drawer and never use
- HDToolBox. I do something similar to that here. Each one of my ZIP disks has
- an RDB on it. I use RDPrep for this. I also have a mountlist with an entry in
- it that is exactly the same as the RDB. Then when I boot without a disk in my
- ZIP drive, which is most of the time, I can just stick a disk in the drive and
- type "mount dz0:" from a shell and the disk is mounted. I also have a button
- in DirOpus to do the same thing. I use a mount list instead of a "Driver" in
- the dosdrivers drawer so that the ZIP is not mounted unless there is a disk in
- the drive. Works like a charm. :<)
-
- Whew... having said all that, there are PC and MAC mountlist entries/"Drivers"
- on Aminet. Just grab one and install it according to your DOS version. Either
- add it to your mountlist or put it in the dosdrivers drawer.
